The works of the competition “Ethical Estonian Souvenir” can bee seen at the Architecture and Design Gallery from Thursday, 10 September. The jury, who gathered on Monday, say that it was extremely difficult to make choices, as the number of professional works was unexpectedly high. “The good thing is that our souvenir shops will have lots of new exciting products even if they are not prize winners”, said jury member and Chairwoman of the Estonian Association of Designers Ilona Gurjanova. Other jury members were marketing manager of Tallinn 2011 Katrin Remmelkoor, designers Tõnis Vellama, Tarmo Luisk and Reet Aus, artist Reiu Tüür, brand manager of the brand, Welcome To Estonia, Leitti Mändmets, public relations adviser of the Ministry of Education and Culture Katrin Arvisto, programme coordinator of Tallinn 2011 Pille-Triin Männik and communication manager of Tallinn 2011 Andri Maimets. The competition was organised by SA Tallinn 2011 and the Estonian Association of Designers. The aim was to find a beautiful and desirable souvenir that would introduce Estonia and be natural and environmentally friendly. Designers became really excited about the competition and submitted more bright ideas than the jury expected.
The competition “Ethical Estonian Souvenir” will reach its culmination on Friday, 25 September. The winners will be announced and the exhibition opened at the Architecture and Design Gallery at 16.00
Of the 31 works submitted to the competition, some were more traditional and others extremely innovative.
