Recycling
The production of material and the supply of energy for this purpose lead to resource exhaustion and environmental pollution. It is relatively easy to discard natural materials with low energy value and no synthetic additives and they easily enter into the substance cycle. Whereas it is difficult to recycle materials that are hard to separate (materials processed with adhesives and dyes). The degradation of synthetic materials in nature is complicated and disturbs the natural substance cycle.
By means of recycling the depletion of new raw materials in nature can be prevented and the energy that is used to process the latter can be saved. In the case of used materials we should always prefer their recycling, secondly processing and thirdly incineration; it is necessary to know the composition of materials when recycling them in order to avoid possible pollution of air, water or soil as well as unexpected material deterioration.
Did you know that:
- fleece jackets are made from plastic bottles
- Dell produces desktop computers with bamboo covers from recycled materials. The computer is produced from recycled bottles, detergent packages and milk jars, the components of the computer are recyclable too
- jewellery is produced from mobile phone buttons and bags are made from car tyres
- in footwear production old jeans and seat covers from cars are used for outer material and tyres are used for soles (Worn Again)
- Nokia made an idea - cell phone from cans
At the Design Night the winners of the contest "Ethical Estonian Souvenir" will be announced and the exhibition will be held, the visitors can listen to lectures on the fashion of recycling on 25. September Prooviveski and see products that are based on the recycling principle in the exhibition and the fashion show "Why is life the way it is" in the Nisurukkiveski on 26.
